Fashion Inspiration: Tata Naka

images londonfashionwee.co.uk

These pictures are from Spring-Summer'12 collection by Tata Naka, London based designer duo. Twin sisters Natasha and Tamara Surguladze behind Tata Naka originally are from Georgia (the Georgia that is the country, not the state). they went to St. Martins, and their graduate collection became the beginning of their professional design career and started the brand Tata Naka. The name comes from the girl's childhood nicknames. This year the brand is celebrating their 10th anniversary, and it seems like they've got a lot accomplished. Their collections are unpredictable. They do tribal mixing it with clashing colors and different patterns as much as they do draping and structural design.

Tata Naka making its way into words fashion slowly, but surely. Their talking about upcoming collaboration with an upscale high street brand this year. And what is the better proof of a designer's success than seeing fashion bloggers rocking your clothes on the streets of New York, London and Paris. Miroslava Duma and many more (including myself) are just in love with that rocker color-block coat! Who wouldn't be?!

Fashion Inspiration: Alexander Terekhov

images vogue.ru, alexanderterekhow.com

I want to continue posting about my favorite Russian designers and stylists. And today's tale is about Russian  Jason Wu, as i would like to call him. Alexander Terekhov is not only talented, but has a institutional training in design, and intern experience at Yves Saint Laurent. He is the only one from Russian design community who was honored to present his collections on New York Fashion Weeks too. He is not only famous for creating THE girl's dresses (because that's the first thing that comes on my mind when i think of Terekhov  -the great feminine dress), but also for his drawing and illustration
He showed his latest collection (the pictures of my favorite runway looks and backstage are above) in Moscow a few days ago, and it was inspired by the legendary Grace Kelly. Terekhov did it again! He plunged femininity of the 50th and timeless elegance into his collection. And, how great this rowan-berry dress is!!! I'm pretty sure i will see it more and more soon scrolling through fashion blogs!

Alice+Olivia's Spring Collection

images style.com

You want to see all the spring trends in one collection? Alice+Olivia lookbook has got it all, including the striped bell bottoms that Stacey Bendet (the founder and designer for the brand) became famous for. I love how effortless and chic every piece of the collection is. And what's more good about it - if you want to wear a total runway look, go for it. It's been already "life appropriate" styled for you!

Back in the USSR with Ulyana Sergeenko

images vogue.ru

These pictures are part of the lookbook of Ulyana Sergeenko's latest spring-summer collection that was inspired by imaginable trip that Brigitte Bardot took to the USSR. I don't know what this is with me talking more and more about Russian fashion designers and editors (here and here) lately! I blame it on my homesickness. But probably that is too pathetic to be true. I think i finally admitted (to myself first of all) that there is a great fashion back home that i know so little about. And that's a shame! So i want to fix it, and maybe introduce you to some of the names you never heard of but will hopefully love in the future.
Back to Ulyana Sergeenko. Her last collection is very little different from what she usually does - retro inspired girly dresses, chiffon maxi gowns and flowy skirts, ditsy florals and rich velvets. It's no different from what the designer usually wears herself too. She is a true Russian doll with the scarf wrapped around her head the way they used to wear it back in the USSR (so called 'babushka" style). And i love it. This is something i can wear every day and night and feel pretty in. And this is what my grandmother tough me to do too. Now when the memories starting to get me i have to finish this post before i start crying my eyes out. But i will be back with more fashion from my home country and show you some beauty and style tricks from "Soviet" times.
