Fashion Inspiration: Natalia Vodianova

images vogue.ru

I just love this photoshot of Natalia Vodianova for Vogue Russia wearing all the sporty goods from the most sport oriented fashion designers - Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Michael Kors. Not only Natalia has been one of the biggest inspiration in my life, but she just looks like my mom when she was my age on these pictures. The hair style from the 70's that was so popular, the running shorts and polyester jackets are just what she used to wear back then. I have to admit i'm not my mother's daughter. I went to an art school while she was still running for the national Olympic team of my home country. And then the only sneakers i was buying were Chuck Taylor Party Sparkle Ox Converse which are not very practical at the gym. Not to mention, i do hate going the gym until these days. And the only think that could drag me there would be  these Acne shorts that Natalia is wearing in one of the pictures. But then, if you think about it, who  in the world would want to wear Acne shorts to the gym?! Wouldn't it just be easier if you throw some lace-up sandals and cute top on and go have fun out in town!
Btw, Natalia just turned 30, she has three kids, and had just announced that she just found herself and was never happier than she is right now. My mom would probably say the same thing!

Collars

Are we still into collars? Especially, the ones with little cats on, or covered in rhinestones, or studs, or fur??! I didn't get the memo, but surely still in love with these cuties!

Trolley Museum

I've been being a great tourist this past Memorial Day Weekend. We went to explore the Kennebunkport area in Maine, and stopped by the Trolley Museum. I know it is silly, and I felt a little weird among all the tourists riding the trolley with us. But saving grace came from my european accent and slavic face. For half an hour i pretended i was one of them. When it comes to vacation, Kennebunkport is the place to be. What to do if you are a lazy tourist like me? First, eat lots of fresh sea food and empty a few bottles of wine in a nicest restaurants. Second, walk around in downtown and make sure to check out all the amazing art galleries and shops. Even if you think you've seen it all (that's what i thought anyways), you will be surprised! Then drive to the beach and do absolutely nothing, but enjoy life. And, finally for those who have completed all the above and absolutely bored, go see the famous location of Walker's Point (aka the summer residence of George Bush Sr). Don't forget to repeat the whole list over again (skipping the Bush's house, obviously).
My mini stay-in vacation was just great. I have created the list of a "lazy tourist" for myself and put "check" next to every point. Except for the last one. But since i have already met Mr. President, this part of my life should be complete.

Pleats and Ruffles

Pleats and ruffles, huh?! I'm not a big fan of neither or, but somehow the combo of those "girly girl" things worked well. I don't know if that's just the silhouette (short short puffy skirt with a flowy long-ish shirt) that attracts me or the cheetah  print of the blouse that tough it up and take off the "ditzyness", but anyhow, it works. And it let me stop wishing i was Gisele for a few seconds. Because wearing that jean ruffle cake does make you a little delirious, so you think you've got some LEGS. And suddenly you start to feel so much better, don't you? And that's all that matters in the end.

Dear Armin!

I have finally met Armin van Buuren! Here in Boston! After being his greatest fan since my high school years, when i used to keep his CD's (we used to use these back then) in my dad's car just in case i ride with him. After the trance music was being played in my ipod for years and years later in Minsk, and then taken to Moscow, and to NYC, and to Miami, and to all the other cities i lived and visited! And after my little brother has been introduced to The Sound of Goodbye and ironically (???) started djing. Last night was one of these great moments when you feel like something important and memorable happening. Please, excuse my sentimental way of expressing myself in this post, but last night i felt happy like never before. Music must be my second biggest passion after you know what. Being an art school graduate i would still keep listening to trance in between piano and solfeggio classes.

Living in or visiting the same places make you stop noticing the beauty of them. Boston met us with fog and rain. But i couldn't care less. Although, i did feel bad for ruining my suede shoes!

The other important thing is what to wear to a show like this. This is not the ordinary night out when you your boyfriend wants you to be in that little black dress and those sky high black heels. Jeans and fun T-shirt is the uniform for the night of drinking, jumping, screaming and dancing your heart out (whichever comes first). I did it all!!! The only thing i wanted to keep highly maintained and a little fancy is my face. In a scariest nightmare i cannot imagine sweating my eye shadow off my face in shame!

The West End News

That was the second time i wore sleepwear out (the first time was here). Can you tell? These Missoni for Target shorts may be my new favorite summer item. Just need to remember the golden rule: put on some heels and makeup! I choose the West End in Portland as a location to test out my outfit. More for the love of that area, than for the fear of being misunderstood in the crowd.
